What it does
Analytics, in detail.
Essential dashboards for editorial and usage numbers come with every journal. Deeper reporting is there when you need it.
- 01
Essential dashboards, included
Every journal gets fixed dashboards for submissions, decisions, publication and headline usage, with a simple CSV export.
- 02
Editorial funnel metrics
Time to first decision, acceptance rate and reviewer response rate show where manuscripts wait and where they flow.
- 03
Usage by article and place
Views, downloads and searches by article, journal, institution and geography, with bots filtered out.
- 04
COUNTER 5 reports
Institutional usage reports in the standard format, generated from the same first-party data, with a SUSHI endpoint.
- 05
Deeper reporting on demand
Drill-downs, custom reports, scheduled delivery and longer history are available as an optional advanced add-on.
- 06
History from day one
Event capture runs for every journal from the start, so turning on advanced analytics later reveals the past too.
How it works
Four steps, no hand-offs lost.
- 1
Capture
Views, downloads and searches are recorded as first-party events.
- 2
Filter
Bots and duplicate requests are removed and the rest rolled up.
- 3
Explore
Dashboards show editorial and usage trends per journal.
- 4
Report
Export to CSV or produce COUNTER 5 reports for your institutions.
Standalone by design
Works on its own. Better together.
Analytics needs nothing else to be useful. It has its own way in and its own way out, and in the full suite the hand-offs are automatic.
Comes in from

Questions
About analytics.
Can I use analytics if my journal is hosted elsewhere?
Yes. Analytics can take events from outside DiscoverJ through a tracking script, log import or COUNTER files, so it does not require DiscoverJ hosting.
What is COUNTER 5?
COUNTER 5 is the standard for reporting how scholarly content is used, so that libraries can compare usage across publishers. DiscoverJ generates these reports from its own event data.
Which analytics come with every journal?
Basic analytics: fixed dashboards for submissions, decisions, publications and headline usage, plus a short CSV export. Advanced analytics adds drill-downs, custom reports and COUNTER 5.
