About

Publishing software that gets out of the way.

Editors and publishers should spend their time on scholarship, not on stitching tools together. That is the problem we are building DiscoverJ to solve.

What we believe

Four principles behind every decision.

  • 01

    Self-serve, not sales-led

A publisher should be able to sign up, create a journal and start working without a procurement project. Onboarding is a product feature, not a consulting engagement.

  • 02

    Modules, not a monolith

You should buy and run only the parts you need. Every module is designed to work alone first and to join the suite second.

  • 03

    Ownership is not negotiable

Your content and data belong to you. Export is always available, storage can be yours, and deletion needs a person's approval.

  • 04

    Transparent by design

Pricing is flexible but explainable, every change is audited and every automated action can be traced to its cause.

Roadmap

How DiscoverJ will arrive.

We are building in stages so that each one is useful on its own. The order matters more than the dates, which we will share as they firm up.

  1. 00

    Foundation

Accounts, roles, journals, settings and the design system everything else rests on.

  2. 01

    Editorial core

Author submission and peer review, with notifications, reminders and editor dashboards.

  3. 02

    Publish

Production tooling, issue assembly, public journal sites, DOIs and indexing.

  4. 03

    Insight and access

Analytics, open and subscription access, institutional access and billing.

  5. 04

    Differentiators

A configurable workflow builder, assistive AI tools, a public API and webhooks.

Who it is for

Built for people who publish scholarship.

  • 01

    Societies and associations

Learned societies that run one or several journals and want modern tools without a dedicated IT team.

  • 02

    University presses and institutions

Presses and institutional publishers who need standards compliance, accessibility and control over their data.

  • 03

    Independent publishers

Publishers who want to adopt one module today, perhaps just review or production, and grow into the rest.
